Jeanette Mowery, Ph.D.

Jeanette joined the faculty of the Biotechnology Department at Madison Area Technical College in 1994. Prior work experience included a research background in cell biology (cell adhesion molecules) and industrial experience in protein purification and product development, working at a small biotechnology company in San Antonio. Her current interests include using computer technology to support hands-on instruction in biotechnology, and incorporating bioinformatics and genomics/proteomics into biotechnology program courses.

Lisa Seidman, Ph.D.

Lisa has been on the faculty of the Biotechnology Department at Madison Area Technical College since 1987. Lisa Seidman, along with Dr. Cynthia J. Moore, is the author of a textbook for biotechnology, "Basic Laboratory Methods for Biotechnology: Textbook and Laboratory Reference". She has also written a workbook for students in laboratory math. Lisa has been the PI or Co-PI on four National Science Foundation grants that have provided instructional materials, students resources, and teacher enhancement workshops in biotechnology.

Rebecca Schall Josvai, Ph.D.

Project Director, Biotechnology Outreach

Rebecca joined the faculty of Madison Area Technical College in 2001 to spearhead outreach activities for biotechnology and serve as the project's traveling educator. Prior to that she worked in the biotechnology industry as a scientific manager and development scientist in a start-up company, as the Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Western Michigan University, and as the founding President and COO of the Southwest Michigan Innovation Center.

Mary Ellen Kraus, Ph.D.

Mary Ellen has been on the faculty of the Biotechnology Department at Madison Area Technical College since 1999. Prior to that time she worked as an academic researcher for four years in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at UW-Madison studying the development of organ structures in fruit flies, as a polymer chemist in industry, and as an instructor at Edgewood College in Madison. Mary Ellen particularly likes interacting with students in a small classroom setting.

Diana Brandner, M.S.

Diana joined the Biotechnology Department at Madison Area Technical College in 1991 as an Instructional Assistant. Her job is a blend of teacher, laboratory technician and laboratory manager. With the wide variety of things she does each day, she feels her job is never dull, but it is the students who make her job challenging and fun. Her background is in biology, chemistry and secondary science education. Prior to joining the Biotechnology Department, she worked as a technician for a medical research foundation, in university research laboratories, for an agricultural company and as a high school teacher.

Joy McMillan, Ph.D.

Retired, Joy began the Biotechnology Department in 1986 and has been a guiding force in its development ever since.  Formerly also Director, Center for New and Converging Technologies Office of Grants and Sponsored Projects.
