About DRS
Disability
Resource Services creates conditions that empower and support students
with disabilities to reach their chosen goals for learning. DRS
works in partnership with faculty, staff and wider communities on behalf
of students with disabilities.
Our Disability Resource Services staff serve
all MATC campuses. DRS is responsible for confirming students requesting
services have a disability under the law and approve specific academic
(reasonable) accommodations to ensure equal access to all programs at
MATC. Additionally,we
assist and support students through a variety of other supportive, non-mandated
services to encourage successful completion of their MATC education.
Confidentiality
Any college cannot make pre-admission inquiries regarding an applicant's disability status, although students requesting testing accommodations for placement testing must present appropriate documentation to DRS. DRS maintains this disability related information in a file separate for the main student record. Once a student is enrolled, the student does need to share that they have a disability requiring specific accommodations listed on the MATC Accommodations Card with faculty. However more specific and personal information regarding the individual’s disability is protected and access is limited to DRS staff.
If you have questions about specific
types of accommodations or any other questions, please call the Disability
Resources Services Office at 608-246-6716 (Deaf/HOH use relay 711)
or email DRS
staff.
