ELECTION RESULTS – FALL 2008

FACTS:

# of eligible MATC student voters: 9,487

# of students who "opened" the ballot: 707 (7.45% of eligible student voters)

# of students who voted: 203 (28.7% of students who opened ballot)

or

2.14% of total eligible student voters

There were no eligible “write-in” candidates. The Senate has 3 open Senate seats and welcomes applicants.

Generally speaking, a 30% voter-turnout for a college student government election is considered "good."  Single-digit turnout, is however, very frequent across the country. For example, at UW-Madison in the fall of 2007, there was a 5.61% voter turnout for the Associated Students of Madison (ASM) Election.  In the Spring of 2008, their voter-turnout jumped to 7.3%.
